Obituary of Harold W. Ascough

Harold W. Ascough, 90, of Toms River, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home. Born and raised in Elizabeth, he moved to Manasquan in 1953 and then to Toms River in 1991. He worked as a photo engraver for 32 years retiring in 1978. He then worked as a real estate broker for Cross Roads Realty in Brielle for 16 years. Harold was Past District Deputy Grandmaster of Masonic District #17 from 1981 to 1984. He was a member and Past Master of Durand Lodge #179, Point Pleasant Beach, in 1979. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946. Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife Adair 'Mitzi' Ascough in 2010 and his sister Ethel Hammersten in 1984. Surviving are his son Glenn and his wife Maryellen; daughter Gail Ascough, 5 grandchildren, Thomas Ascough, Ashley Solomon, Lyndsie Doyle, Kelsey Doyle and Jeffrey Ascough; 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A masonic service will be offered at 8:00 pm by the Durand Lodge #179 F.& A.M. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Avenue followed by entombment at the Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 of www.shrinershospitals.org/donate in his memory would be appreciated.
