Josephine (Joe'l) DeStefano, 80, of Berkeley Twp., passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Joe'l was born in Bronx, NY and lived in Jersey City and Brick before moving to Berkeley in 1997. She was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Joe'l enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerald J. DeStefano in 2007, and six sisters, Patricia May, Joan Toher, Jacqueline Mackentee, Judith Frohlich, Julia Jackson and June Finkle. Joe'l is survived by two sons, Andrew DeStefano and his wife Ana, Richard DeStefano, (ret. Sgt. JCPD) and his wife Kathy; daughter Lauriann DeAngelo and her husband Dean; six loving grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Brandon, Nicole, Austin and Joseph; sister, Jennifer Startup; and four brothers, Lawrence, Lee, Alfred and Lemuel Austin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 am at St. Maximilian-Kolbe Church, Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at the B/G William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 in her memory would be appreciated.
