Obituary of Mark C. Peterson

Mark C. Peterson, 78, of Seaside Park passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2025. Mark was born in Middletown, CT, and shortly after, his family relocated to Jamestown, NY. Growing up in Jamestown, Mark met the love of his life, Lynne, at the age of 3 not knowing they would marry and start a family together later in life. Mark and Lynne married on August 26, 1967. He became a Verona police officer in 1969 and in 1975 transferred to the Essex County Park Police, where he spent a few years on the mounted squad. While serving on the police force, Mark started his own tree service company, which became his full-time career upon retiring from the force in 1986. Mark and Lynne moved to Seaside Park, NJ in 2013. He enjoyed gardening, surf fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family. Mark is survived by his wife, Lynne; sons, Karl, his wife, Terry; Daniel, his wife Michelle; Brian, his wife Anessa; grandchildren, Carly, her husband Anthony; Nikki, her husband Mark; Carter, Natalie, Michael, Grace, Joshua, Erin, Colin, Sean and Casey; sister, Maria Lisa Peterson-Rippey, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at The Union Church of Seaside Park, 47 4th Avenue, Seaside Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Marks name be made to The Union Church of Seaside Park.
