Joan Neratka, 89, of Toms River entered into eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Joan was born in Sturges, PA and grew up in Eynon, PA. She graduated from Archbald High School and moved to NJ to pursue a career. Joan married the love of her life, Henry (Hank) Neratka on February 23, 1962.
Joan and Hank moved to Toms River where Joan worked for Dr. Landemere before working for the Board of Social Services. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Joan also loved to travel and go on cruises with her friends. She loved all animals, especially cats, and was a devoted fur mother to Ginger and Flipper. Joan was a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, Henry Neratka, her parents, William and Anna Yeselavige, and her brother, Robert Yeselavige.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine Heiser; nephews, Mark, Richard, Bart, and John; nieces, Karen, Jan, and Elinor, cousins; Carol, Patty, Lorraine, Arlene, and Ray as well as an abundance of friends.
Viewing hours will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 3 – 5 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Interment to follow.
