Pepe R. Uriguen, 89, of Toms River, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Ocean Medical Center. Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Pepe lived an adventurous and hardworking life. As a young man, he served as a Merchant Marine, traveling the world. It was during those travels that he developed a deep appreciation for the United States. In 1962, he met and married the love of his life, Galuth, and together they began a beautiful journey. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1964 to start a new chapter and raise their family. Pepe was deeply devoted to his wife, whom he adored, and cared for throughout their life together. He was a devoted family man who always put his wife and children first. His happiest moments were spent with his family. Pepe worked as a foreman at Wilson Sporting Goods in Clifton, NJ, and then at Caplan Sewing Machine Company in Newark, NJ, before retiring. He enjoyed doing repairs or renovations himself, a true handyman. He also enjoyed music, dancing, and watching boxing matches. He was predeceased by his parents, Marina Cuevas and Manuel Uriguen, and his brother, Edmundo Uriguen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Galuth Uriguen; his son, Joe Uriguen and his wife Kellie; his daughter, Joann Adams and her husband James; his four cherished grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Lourdes Uriguen; his niece, Fabiola Uriguen and her two children who will all miss him dearly. Private services will be held to celebrate his life and memory.
