Anna Maria Gangitino, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and love. She was 69 years old.

Born in 1955 in Ventimiglia, Sicily, Anna Maria came to the United States as an infant and was raised in Manhattan, where her love for family, tradition, and music began to blossom. As a young adult she moved to Lakewood, NJ where she attended Georgian Court College, and became a beloved presence in the parish of St. Mary of the Lake Church.

A proud Sicilian, Anna Maria carried her heritage in her heart and in her kitchen. She was known for her warm hospitality and delicious Italian cooking, which brought comfort and joy to many. Her voice, both singing in the church choir and in quiet moments at home, was a gift that touched the souls of those around her.

Anna Maria lived a life guided by faith. She embodied the fruits of the Holy Spirit in all she did—always placing the needs of others before her own. In her younger years, she worked as a physical therapist aide and later served the church community by working in the parish office and preparing meals for priests. Her most fulfilling work, perhaps, was her role as a home health aide, where her caring spirit made a profound difference in the lives of those she tended to.

She shared a deep and loving marriage with her husband, Calogero "Pino" Gangitino, until his passing in 2012. Together, they raised two children, Giuseppe and Lisa. Anna Maria endured great sorrow in the loss of her daughter Lisa in 1999 yet continued to be a pillar of strength and care for her family and community.

Anna Maria is survived by her son, Giuseppe and his wife Kristina, and many loving relatives and friends who will miss her kindness, her songs, and her unwavering faith.

Her voice, her meals, and her presence brought comfort and joy to countless lives—and the memory of her gentle spirit will continue to do so.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 1139 E. County Line Road, Lakewood, NJ.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
