Norman E. Schue Obituary

Norman Ellsworth Schue, age 90 of Brick, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2025, with his wife Phyllis by his side.

Norman was born on January 27, 1935, to Russell and Elizabeth Schue of Hanover, Pennsylvania, where he spent his formative years. He was a proud graduate of Pennsylvania State University in 1957 where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree. He was an active member and brother in the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. He was also a lifelong fan of the Nittany Lions football team.

Norman's life was defined by service, dedication, and the love of his family and community. Upon graduation from Penn State, he received his commission as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he served proudly for nine years (1957-1966). He has the honor of attending "The Squadron Officers School" in Montgomery, Alabama 1964.

He attained the rank of Captain, flying the Douglas C-124 and Boeing C-135. After his time in the USAF, he continued on to a distinguished career of nearly 30 years as a commercial pilot with TWA. Norman served as a TWA training pilot and as a TWA check pilot. He was approved to fly the C-707, C-727, C-1011, and C-141. In 1992, he received his Command Wings and was promoted to Captain.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Norman also served as a member and President of the Brick Township Board of Education and was an active member of the JayCees and Lions Club. In retirement, Norman was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, keeping up with his favorite sports teams (especially Penn State), and spending time with friends and family.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Phyllis; his daughters, Leslie Lemanski and her husband Bob, and Gayle Noe and her husband Perry; his five grandchildren, Corey Drake and his wife Katherine, Taylor Drake, Nicholas Noe, Maxwell Noe, and Katherine Noe; and his cherished great-grandson, Oliver Drake.

A service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm at The Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Norman's memory to charitable foundations.
