Allan Tilton Obituary

On January 20, 2026, we said goodbye to Allan Tilton - a husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence made everyday life brighter. Born on November 28, 1952, Allan was truly one of a kind. He leaves behind a family and community forever changed by his presence.

Allan was a proud employee of Palace Amusements in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and he loved to tell stories growing up on the Jersey Shore. After an injury changed the course of his working life, he became a stay-at-home dad long before it was common. He showed up, held things together, and made sure his family always knew they were taken care of. He cooked dinner every night and fixed whatever needed fixing (usually without reading any instructions first). He was known for his strong opinions and unending determination in everything he did. Most importantly, he always offered steady, quiet support in a thousand everyday ways.

For more than 40 years, he called Brielle home, where he earned the affectionate nickname “the Mayor.” He drove his "Toddler Wagon" all over town, driving his own and the neighborhood kids to and from school, grabbing lottery tickets at QuickPick, and checking his P.O. Box daily. He loved to talk to people - neighbors, strangers, anyone willing to chat. He especially enjoyed sitting on the front deck, watching the world go by, and making everyone feel welcome, even the neighbor's cat who he would feed daily. Allan loved riding his motorized scooter, often with a small radio tucked into the basket so he had music along the way. Music mattered to him - all kinds, all genres, always playing somewhere in the background of his life.

He loved bringing the kids to Dorney Park, creating memories filled with laughter, rides, and simple joy. One of his favorite destinations was Atlantic City, where he loved the slots and the roulette table, and somehow, he always seemed to get lucky.

He was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Emily, Ashlyn, Evie, and Kiera. In his later years, some of his greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren Evie and Kiera, with whom he shared a special closeness. They were the light of his life.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Tilton Sr.; his mother, Audrey Elizabeth Tilton Freeman; and his stepfather, Frederick Freeman. He was also predeceased by his best friend Richard Laird and several siblings: Leslie (Gabby) Tilton and his wife Barbara Tilton, Albert Tilton, and Frederick Fechner.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Rosemarie; four children: daughters Heather and her husband Brent Wells of North Carolina; Melissa and her husband Kevin Piazissi of Florida; Nicole and her wife Renee Tilton of Brick, New Jersey; and son Jimmy and his wife Lindsey Tilton of Florida.

He is also survived by his siblings: Raymond Tilton Jr.; Phillip Tilton; Sandra Patterson; and David Tilton along with many extended family members whom he loved dearly.

He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his love of conversation and music, and the way he showed up to help when someone was in need. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched along the way.

Honoring his wishes, there will be no services. To honor Allan’s memory, we invite you to spend intentional time with your family, holding close the moments that matter most.
