Jean K. Solasky Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Solasky (née: Matis), 78, of Toms River, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Born in Perth Amboy, Jean attended Woodbridge High School. She worked as an office manager for Dr. Bonazinga before retiring, leaving a legacy of dedication in every position she held. Jean was known throughout her community for her extraordinary generosity and devotion to family. She gave everything she had to her children, grandchildren, and her beloved cats.

Jean’s passions centered around those she loved. She cherished spending time with her grandkids, enjoyed crabbing, baking, and creating memories around family meals. She loved to garden and never passed up an opportunity to tend to the neighborhood cats. Jean’s faith guided her throughout her life. Perhaps the most telling of Jean’s character was her concern for animals. This passion reflected a broader compassion for those who could not speak for themselves.

Jean was a fighter: tough and resilient with an outsized spirit. She moved through the world with a distinctive warmth, finding joy in unexpected places and expressing affection through a thousand small moments of care.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Solasky (2016). She is survived by her daughter Christine Chiaravalle and husband Dennis; her son William Solasky and his wife Indira; grandchildren Benjamin, Sara, Lindsey, Sofia, and Jaycee; siblings Francis Schimpf and her husband Adolf, and James Matis and his wife Sue; and nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial mass being held at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jersey Shore Animal Shelter in Brick in her memory.
