Suzan M. "Sue" Grodzicki Obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Suzan “Sue” Grodzicki, 81 of Toms River, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and beloved friend. Sue was truly a unique woman, known for her love of family, travel and having the ability to make people laugh-even if it came with a little edge.

Sue embraced the adventure of military life with enthusiasm and grace. Traveling alongside her husband, Ted, she lived in various places including Massachusetts, Tennessee, and spent four wonderful years in Germany, a country she grew to love. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with people, and no matter where the military sent them, she quickly built a community of lasting friendships. Her outgoing nature and honest spirit often made her the life of the party. She did things her own way and was never shy about letting you know what was on her mind.

After Ted's retirement, they settled in Toms River, but their love for travel continued. For many years, they enjoyed traveling in their RV, spending the winter months in the warm sunshine of Florida. However, her favorite place in the world was always Falmouth, Massachusetts. It was there she met the love of her life, Ted, and it is fitting that it will be her final resting place.

A woman of many talents, Sue had a creative spirit that she expressed through countless hobbies over the years. From cake decorating and ceramics to sewing, quilting, painting, and photography, she poured her energy into everything she did and loved working on projects to give to her family. She was also a passionate fan, whether she was cheering for her beloved Notre Dame football team, keeping up with "General Hospital," or, most recently, following the career of Caitlin Clark. Above all, she was devoted to her family, friends, and her beloved furry companion, Riley. She was a fun-loving grandmother, known as "Nan," who took every opportunity to spoil her grandchildren. She celebrated all of their accomplishments with immense pride, making them feel unconditionally loved and as though they could do no wrong. Her talent in the kitchen was legendary, especially her unforgettable mac and cheese and green beans. Her spunky personality, unconditional love and famous cooking are gifts that we will truly miss.

Sue was predeceased by her parents Oliver W. and Nell Marie Grew. Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ted; her sons John, Mike and Brian and her daughters-in-law Melanie and Deirdre; her cherished grandchildren Kaeley, Madison, Kevin and Julia; and her treasured dog Riley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1 to 3 PM at Kedz Funeral Home, located at 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Friends, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know Sue are invited to come together to celebrate her remarkable life and share their memories.
