It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. JoAnn Stravelakis, PhD, a cherished member of our community and a beacon of light for all who knew her.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Stravelakis had a profound affinity for education and the healing arts. After completing her studies, she became a Doctor of Psychology, channeling her passion into helping others understand their medical experiences. She owned and operated her own Medical Decoding Company in Toms River, where she skillfully taught individuals how to decode complex medical records, empowering them to navigate their healthcare journeys with confidence.

JoAnn was predeceased by her beloved parents, Gus and Helen (nee Nikitas) Stravelakis, and her sister Katherine (Katie) and brother-in-law Dr. Paul Rosen. Though she experienced profound loss, JoAnn always focused on sharing her heart and wisdom with those around her.

A devoted friend and confidant, JoAnn will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

Visitation will be held at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 10 – 11 am. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 am with Reverend Paul Pappas officiating. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River.
