Xenofon Chryssanthakopoulos Obituary
Xenofon Chryssanthakopoulos, lovingly known as Fonda, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026. Fonda was born in Temeni, Greece on June 8, 1953, the youngest of three children to George Chryssanthakopoulos and Katina Athanasopoulou.
An American by choice, devoted Greek by nature, and a Yankees fan by heart, Fonda built a life rich with family, hard work, and the satisfaction of always having a garden full of tomatoes. In his early life he served proudly in the Greek Army in Cyprus and emigrated to the US in 1986. Known by all for his kind and good-natured presence, he measured his love in actions, not words – always ready to paint a room or identify a fix that needed a quick trip to Home Depot. He was always up for anything, from impromptu trips to dinners out with his loving wife, Eva. He was never happier than surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren, surf fishing on Island Beach State Park, or turning on a game. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Chryssanthos(Aggeliki), and his daughter, Katina. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Evangeline Chryssanthakopoulos, his brother Demitrios(Sonia), his daughters Despina (Stamatis) Chrysanthakopoulou, Georgette (Seth) Rochlin, and Andriana (Joe Anthony) Pinto and grandchildren Nikolaos, Hera, Wesley, Rafael and Simon, and numerous nieces and nephews in Greece and the US.
A memorial visitation will be on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church.
