Maria C. Acosta Obituary

Maria C. Acosta, 75, of Toms River, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 6, 2026. Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Maria carried the warmth and vibrancy of her homeland in her heart throughout her life.

Maria was known for her culinary talents, often memorialized in the memories of family gatherings where her delicious dishes brought everyone together. An avid gardener, she found joy in nurturing plants. She also enjoyed the thrill of shopping, particularly for estate sales and yard sales alongside her son-in-law, Christian.

Maria cherished her family above all, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly cared for until just a month before her passing. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter and love, always welcoming to friends and family.

In the 1970s, Maria met the love of her life, Jose Acosta, in Paterson, NJ. Together, they created a beautiful life, sharing many adventures, particularly in Cape May and Lancaster, where they made cherished memories.

She is predeceased by her mother, Felicia Manso, and her brother, Manual Rodriguez.

Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Acosta; daughters Aurelia Hernandez, Matilde Bahrenburg and her husband Christian, and Jennifer D'Antonio and her husband Carlo, Sr.; grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Molly, James, Joseph, Gianna, Anthony, and Carlo, Jr.; great-grandchildren Paxton, Brayden, and Ryleigh; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
