Joan A. (Helmeczi) Genthe, 80, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at home. Born on June 10, 1946, in New Brunswick, she was the daughter of Julius and June (Van Hise) Helmeczi. She grew up in North Brunswick and graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1963. She resided in North Brunswick, East Brunswick, Monroe Township, Whiting and Berkeley Township. Joan worked as a records management specialist at Johnson & Johnson for many years.

Joan was known for her passion for gardening with the Master Gardeners. She spent many happy hours at the beach throughout her life and enjoyed fishing, coaching soccer and baseball and attending music performances. She strived to remain active and enjoyed being productive.

Joan is survived by her children, Jeffrey and his wife, Amy; Jason and his partner, Samantha; Joshua and his wife, Jennifer; and her grandchildren, Jodi & Dylan Cesare; Crystal & Zachary Genthe; Matthew, Christopher & Andrew Genthe; Jaxon Genthe; Jordan & Sean Wilson; Jasmyn and Brianna Mall and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and June Helmeczi, and brothers James and Jerry Helmeczi.

Cremation will be private.
