Robert G. Carver, Jr. Obituary
Robert Graham Carver, Jr. ("Bob"), 92, passed away peacefully at his home in West Bend, Wisconsin, with his youngest daughter and son-in-law at his side.
Bob was born in Plainfield, New Jersey, and was his parents' only child. His father immigrated to the United States from Edinburgh, Scotland, through Ellis Island in 1910.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1956. He attended Shelton College in Ringwood, New Jersey, for one year before transferring to Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, where he earned his bachelor's degree in music. He later earned his master's degree from Trenton State College.
For 41 years, Bob faithfully taught music at Brielle Elementary School in Brielle, New Jersey, investing in the lives of countless students. In recognition of his years of dedicated service, the Borough of Brielle proclaimed "Bob Carver Day" on June 10, 2002, to honor his retirement. His legacy lives on through the annual Robert Carver Music Award, presented to graduating students.
Retirement did not dampen Bob's passion for serving others. For the next fifteen years, he volunteered in prison ministry, faithfully leading Bible studies for inmates, primarily at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Bob was married to Judith "Judy" Boorom, who also devoted her career to public education as a teacher in the Point Pleasant School District. Judy preceded Bob in death on July 8, 2007. In God's perfect timing, Bob was called home on that same date—July 8—nineteen years later, in 2026. Together, they faithfully attended Trinity Bible Church in Allenwood, New Jersey, where they were actively involved in the music ministry for many years.
Bob is survived by his four children: Ruth (Gary) Richards, Deborah (Philip) Reardon, Daniel (Gwen) Carver, and Elizabeth (David) Brewer. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, extended family, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753, on Saturday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m.
