JACKSON - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom Jeannette Gatyas, 81, of Jackson on Wednesday June 7th 2023 in Brick, NJ. She fought so hard for so long despite the odds stacked against her with her daughters by her side. Born on February 8th, 1942 as a twin in Perth Amboy to John & Mary Sabo. She grew up in Keasbey & graduated from Woodbridge High School where she made many lifelong friendships there. She met her late husband at 16 & were together until his passing in 2009. Despite not having it easy growing up & overcoming many tragedies she managed to always have a smile on her face. She had a great sense of humor & was always laughing. She was a waitress & in retail management but the best titles she held was devoted wife, mom & grandma. She was always there when we needed her, family meant everything to her. She was a very kind, loving, funny, caring, generous, thoughtful, friendly, strong, determined, loyal person who had a heart of gold & was never afraid to speak her mind. Despite being so small she loved to eat especially her sweets. She was famous for her sugar cookies & lasagna but most of all her smile & those baby blue eyes. She was a homebody at heart with her cat Tommy always by her side. She loved animals, (especially her cats) & enjoyed horse racing, antique cars, Nascar, Barbies, all holidays, baking, reading newspapers & magazines, watching her shows, our shopping trips & spending time with her family & friends. She will be deeply missed by all that knew & loved her. She was predeceased by her parents John Sabo & Mary Webber Sabo, her husband of 43 yrs Bernie Gatyas, her twin sister Joan Sabo, niece Justine Broehl, brother-in-law Tommy Gatyas & nephew Mike Gatyas. She is survived by her two daughters Nadine Rice & husband Scott, Janell Gatyas & Enrique Pabey; grandsons Jordan Pabey & Jake Rice; nephews Tommy & Jay Gatyas, Steven & Petey Broehl; niece Renee Cece; many grand nephews & nieces; & Cats Tommy, Jerry & Bear. Visitation will be Friday June 16th from 2-4 & 7-9 & a funeral service will be Saturday, June 17th at 12:00 at Kedz Funeral Home 1123 Hooper Ave, Toms River followed by entombment at the Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jeannette Gatyas to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation PO Box 834, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or the ASPCA.
