Louis J. Embriaco, 89 passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2001 peacefully at home in Pheasant Run of Forked River, NJ. Born in Old Forge, PA, he lived in Denville, NJ prior to retiring to Forked River in 1987. Lou worked as a plant manager for the Swift Meat Company for 30 years. He was very active in the Forked River Rotary Club and was a recipient of their esteemed Paul Harris Fellow Award for community service and involvement. He was instrumental in the development of the Tuckerton Seaport Project. He has been a major benefactor to the Orchid Foundation that sustains the Hoger Esquelar Armando Rosenberg School and Orphanage in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for over ten years. Lou was predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce in 1992, his brother Nicholas, and his two sisters, Mary Bruno and Rose Erken Beck. He is survived by two nieces, Dolores Gillow and Carol Miele from the Old Forge, PA, area; two brothers in law, Dale Lavelle of Fitchburg, Wisconsin and Donald Lavalle of Rockford, Illinois, as well as countless friends and associates. Lou will be remembered by all that knew him for his positive attitude, supportive nature and unlimited generosity. There will be a memorial service at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 1 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lou can be sent to the Orchid Foundation, Inc. (www.orchidfoundation.org) to support the school and orphanage.
