Obituary of John Robert Lipka

John Robert Lipka, 89, of Toms River, passed away quietly, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Shorrock Gardens in Brick, NJ. Mr. Lipka was born in Bayonne and lived in Clark and Rahway before moving to Toms River two years ago. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be missed by all. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific and received the Purple Heart for his part in the battle for Iwo Jima. Mr. Lipka was a member of the 3rd Marine Division Association, the Rahway Men's Club, the VFW Post 7363 of Clark and the American Legion Post 328 of Clark. Before retiring in 1988, he was a master carpenter with the Carpenters & Millwrights Union Local 715 in Elizabeth, working on many major construction projects in North and Central Jersey. Mr. Lipka was a well respected member of his union, serving in varied leadership capacities at designated job sites. He was predeceased by his wife Elli Johanna Lipka in 2001. Surviving are two sons, Robert John Lipka and his wife Lorri of Parsippany, and John Richard Lipka of Toms River; a daughter, Susan Zabel of Casselberry, FL; grandchildren, April Krogh of Mt. Dora, FL, Viktoryia Lipka and Daniel Lipka of Point Pleasant, Evan Lipka of Parsippany and Jordan Lindo of Casselberry, FL. Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 9 am until the Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
