Obituary of Catherine L. Jones

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Catherine 'Lee' Jones, 82 also known as Caterina Adelina of Brick Township, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Catherine was born in Jersey City and grew up in Newark where she became active in national and local politic endeavors of her husband and her son. She and her family moved to Brick in 1959. She was a great Yankee fan. Catherine had a passion for her faith and Catholic Education which she expressed in her daily life. Lee's strong faith was most apparent during these most recent days. She relied heavily on her patron saint, St. Therese and she donated a statue of her at her parish at the Church of the Visitation in Brick. Lee wasn't particularly fond of pets until a loving Bichon Frise, Snowball came along. Snowball provided many happy moments and she called Snowball, "her dog". Lee was an ardent supporter of Catholic education especially St. Joseph Grade school and Msgr. Donovan High School, and St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia where her grandson is studying pre-med. Lee loved to cook and bake. She took pleasure in sharing what she made with other people; she was especially famous for her Italian cookies. She loved to sing as well. Her favorite songs were Mama and the Ave Maria. Lee's especially had a soft spot for her grandchildren which she would do anything for them and go to the ends of the earth to help them. She will be sorely missed by so many people. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Ronald W. Jones, Sr. (Lanza); her children, Evamarie Lanza-Thelmo and her fiancé Dr. Edward Gere of Toms River, Evelyn Bonilla and her husband Pedro of Fayetteville, NC, and Catherine Brunner of Whiting, Ronald W. Jones, Jr., of Toms River; her brother Amedeo (Mike) D'Angiolillo and his wife Santina (Sandy) of Cedar Knolls, NJ; her sister Geraldine Cianci of Elizabeth; her eight grandchildren, Frankie and Cristina Thelmo, Peter and Maite Bonilla, Paulie Brunner, RJ, Andrew and Steven Jones; and two great grandchildren, Zain and Evelina.
