Obituary of Marion Desmond

Marion Desmond, 87 of Brick Township, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012. She worked as a switchboard operator for Burns and Roe Engineering of Oradell, NJ for 10 years, retiring in 1978. Marion attended Mother Cabrini High School in Upper Manhattan and Fordham University. Marion belonged to the Religious Sisters of Mercy in Wilson Park, NY where she studied as a nun for three years. She was a communicant of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Brick. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived most of her life in New York. She and her husband lived in Westwood, NJ before retiring to Brick in 1981. She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph J. Desmond; six children, Anne Larson of West Milford, Marion Lopez of Pearl River, NY, Richard Desmond of Laurel Springs, NJ, Donna Williams of Greendell, NJ, Gerard Desmond of Brick, NJ and Joseph Desmond of Toms River, NJ; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Anthony Hand of Flagler Beach, FL, and James Hand of Yonkers, NY. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm Thursday and 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm Friday at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 9:00 am Saturday at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Brick.
