Darryl Brown Obituary

Darryl Brown, 51, of Seaside Heights passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Darryl was born and raised in Lakewood, NJ. Darryl grew up on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Drive. As a child he spent his summers in North Carolina with family. His first job was delivering newspapers and he also worked at Gelbsteins Bakery. Darryl played football in high school. He graduated from Lakewood High School. He was the first to graduate high school within the immediate family. Darryl later grew up on Ridge Avenue with all of his boys over to 7th Street. Everyone would break dance on cardboard boxes. Don't forget about those electronic football boards that grandma would not let you plug in so you had to tap to play. Darryl would spend days painting and changing team uniforms. Darryl later moved to Houston, TX where he lived for 20 years before moving back to New Jersey. He was very artistic and was passionate about designing sneakers. He was actively working on patents for the many designs he created. Darryl may have designed over 250 pair of sneakers. His first design was called Sporty's. Darryl returned home, became a Handyman and was always there to help with yardwork: cleaning leaves, gutters and cutting grass. Darryl met a Special Lady Patricia who he loved to spend time with her and her grandchildren. He is predeceased by his father, Richard Dorchy. Darryl is survived by his mother, Darrylyn Clark; his adoptive father, Jerome A. Brown who raised Darryl; sisters, Raynae Zayas, and Aleena (Naji) Myrick; niece, Imani Reed, and nephew Dakari Myrick. Great Aunt Marie Stephens who is 104 years young. Darryl had a Special Lady, Patricia Smith. He had a host of great aunts and uncles, aunts and uncles, cousins who will miss him dearly.
