Obituary of Joseph Russell Powers, Jr.

Joseph Russel Powers, Jr., 79 of Manchester, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021. Joseph was an International Systems Analyst working for AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya for 40 years, retiring in 2001. Born and raised in Paterson, Joseph lived in Pompton Plains and spent 15 years in Bayville before moving to Manchester 3 years ago. He and his wife attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Lakehurst. Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen McAlvanah Powers; five children, Sean Powers, Casey Powers, Cheryl Abbate, Shannon Powers, Kelly Powers; and 11 cherished grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River on Friday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday, at St. John’s Church, 619 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733.
