Obituary of Irene M. Rush

Irene Rush, 94, of Whiting, NJ, passed away, Saturday, September 11, 2021. Irene was born in East Orange, NJ and lived there and in Glen Ridge most of her life, before moving to Holiday City in 1988. At the time of her death, Irene was a resident of The Pines in Whiting, NJ. She was in fellowship at the Bethany Bible Chapel in Toms River where she was known as the “Cookie Lady.” She was always ready to provide dozens of cookies for many of the church activities. She loved reading, doing puzzles, scrapbooking and of course baking. Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband Horace Rush, Jr., three sons, Peter Rush, Neil Rush, James Rush, and four brothers, Henry J. Elder, William B. Elder, Philip S. Elder and Robert Elder. Surviving are her seven children: Sandra Tilley (William), Robert Rush (Judith), Kathleen Quant (Michael), John Rush (Tracey), JoAnn Rush, Jill Bontempo (Robert), and Harry Rush (Karen) and two daughters-in-law: Cathy Rush, Susan Rush. 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
