Peter was an extraordinarily kind and supportive editor for one of my books with Adams Media. He will be profoundly missed. He always welcomed new ideas, and had a deep knowledge of the publishing industry - both from an editorial perspective, and as an accomplished author. And personally, I loved hearing about his grandchildren, who he obviously loved to bits. May they all remember him fondly.

Peter and I became close friends in the sixth grade. My family came to consider the Archers -- who lived one floor above us in Chicago -- as part of our extended family and I think they felt the same about us. We often celebrated holidays and birthdays together -- Peter and I were born three days apart -- thus the photo I am sharing of our 21st, in my parents dining room with both families gathered.
Peter and I became active in the movement against the war in Vietnam together, and joined the socialist movement together as well. Over time out lives took somewhat different turns, but we remained friends until his sudden death, much too soon, unexpected and unfair.
Peter occupied an irreplaceable part in my life. Lisa and I will miss him dearly.
