Obituary of Joseph A. Raimondi

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph A. Raimondi M.D. beloved ‘Doctor Joe’ went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 11th, 2022. The Bible says absent from the body, present with the Lord. Dr. Joe was the patriarch of his family and his life was a living example of a strong faith. He was devoted to his family and was married to his dear wife Colette for 60 years, and together they raised three sons, Rocco, Joseph and Thomas, along with two daughters, Colette and Adina. Dr. Joe enjoyed spending time with his 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Joey. After completing his undergraduate education at NYU (University Heights), Dr. Joe served in the US Marine Corps as a Navy corpsman with the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Pendleton California and after an honorable discharge, he met his wife Colette while attending medical school in Louvain, Belgium. He completed his internship at Monmouth Medical Center and residency training in OB/GYN at Newark city hospital. He then set up a practice of OB/GYN and was later joined by Drs. Joseph Cudia and Philip Massimino at Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. Dr. Joe’s claim to fame occurred in 1985 when he delivered a 16 lbs. 8 oz. male infant by cesarean section. Dr. Joe and Colette have been born again Christian believers for the past 50 years. During his OB-GYN practice, Dr. Joe enjoyed going on several Christian medical missionary trips with Covenant Mercies Ministry to Pakistan and Uganda, serving the poor and less fortunate, and being rewarded with a bright smile from the patients. Dr. Joe enjoyed making homemade wine and Italian grappa, and enjoyed a good cigar with his friends and family. He led a monthly Bible study with the family which was preceded by a nice meal. The family enjoyed homemade zeppolis which Dr. Joe cooked and good bread dough provided by La Scala Bakery. He also enjoyed afternoons at Island Beach State Park with Colette, meditating and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Fellowship Church, 1644 N. Bay Avenue, Toms River, on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 10:00 am with a service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Whiting Memorial Park, 600 Rte 530, Whiting, NJ. In lieu of flowers, we request donations sent to Open Door Pregnancy Center, 533 Lakehurst Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755, theopendoor.com.
