Obituary of Reuben Tirado

Reuben Tirado, 92 of Toms River, NJ, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born on July 10, 1929 in Long Branch, NJ and was a graduate of Long Branch High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1949 and served during the Korean war until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. Reuben had a huge heart and big smile which he shared with everyone. Reuben was one of the founding members of the Bethel Bible Chapel in Red Bank, NJ. He has been in fellowship at Bethany Bible Chapel in Toms River for 34 years where his various duties included Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, elder, trustee, Vacation Bible School worker and camp counselor to mention a few. He certainly will be missed. He was predeceased by two brothers, Oziel and David Tirado, sisters Loida Polhemus, Elva Monachese and Lolie Tirado. Reuben is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Hopfensperger Tirado; daughter Tina Hedin and her husband Eric of Beachwood, NJ; granddaughter Isabella Hedin who called him "Ga" and was the love of his life. He is also survived by his sister Priscilla Smith of Oakhurst, NJ; mother in law May Hopfensperger of Bristol, CT; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Bethany Bible Chapel, 2341 Church Road, Toms River from 2 to 4 pm with a funeral service beginning at 4:00. Reuben will be buried with Military Honors at the Brigadier General, William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 1:30 pm. The family will be meeting at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, on Monday at 12:00 prior to leaving for the cemetery.
