Obituary of Joseph Mitchell

Joseph 'Tippy' Mitchell, 77 of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at home with his family by his side. Tippy worked for the Jackson Township Public Works and retired as Director in 2000 after 21 years of service. He proudly served in the US Marine Corp. and was a member of the Ocean Gate Veterans Association. He was a communicant of St. Justin's Catholic Church in Toms River. Born and raised in Paterson, Tippy lived in Lakehurst for 13 years moving to Toms River 14 years ago. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dixie. He is survived by three sons, Raymond, John and Michael Mitchell, four daughters, Joann Jackson and husband Kenny, , Michele Mitchell, Patti Mitchell, Kim Martinez and husband John; four brothers, Edward, Peter, Leo and Ralph Mitchell; Sister, Rosemarie Morey; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 am on Tuesday at St. Justin's Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ocean Gate Veterans Association, P.O. Box 518, Ocean Gate, NJ 08740 in his memory would be appreciated.
