Obituary of George W. Hill

George W. Hill, Jr., 87 of Toms River, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. George worked as a meter reader for JCP&L of Toms River for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II during which time he was held as a Prisoner of War in Germany. George was a Life Member having served for over 40 years, and was a Past Chief of the Toms River Fire Company #2. Born and raised in Toms River, he lived in Plainfield for a number of years returning to Toms River in 1957. George was predeceased by his parents George, Sr. and Ada Knight Hill, his daughter Deborah Elise Hill in 1974 and his son Timothy G. Hill in 1991. Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Dolores Moon Hill; brother Edwin Hill and his wife Shirley of Toms River; two sisters, Sarah Staples and her husband John of Keysville, VA, Naomi Wilbert of Toms River; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm with a funeral service at 7:30 pm. Cremation will be private.
