Obituary of Joyce Locke

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Lillian Locke, 87 years old, passed on to her heavenly home on December 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri during the Great Depression to George and Anita Kerkering. She was an excellent student and worked as a bookkeeper for a local insurance company. In 1958 she met and eventually married Greg who was a student at Logan College of Chiropractic. Joyce and Greg moved to New Jersey and had three children David, Jeff and Sandi. Joyce loved cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, animals, bowling and watching football on TV. Joyce had the nearly impossible task of keeping the house quiet while Greg saw patients in his downstairs office. Joyce had the patience of Job and nerves of steel teaching her three kids and many grandkids how to ride bikes and learn to drive. Joyce was born again at the Richard Green crusade in the early '70s and was involved in Sunday school and women's ministries at 5th Avenue Chapel. She loved the Lord and was a kind, and gentle person, who was more interested in helping and serving other people than herself. Her last ten years were complicated by various health issues that prevented her from doing what she so easily did before. The immediate family has provided much love and assistance during this difficult period of time. Joyce is survived by her husband Greg; two sons David and Jeffrey; and daughter Sandi. Grandkids include Heather, Jeff Jr, Shayna (husband Nick), Davita, Kyle, Lydia (husband Bobby), Joshua, Michael, Andrew, Ryan, Teddy, Valerie, Eleeza and Matthew; Great Grand kids Jayden, Moses, Prometheus, Orion and Asher. Daughter in Law Andrea, Son in Law Walter. Special thanks to our loved ones for the faithful prayer support, love and hands on assistance with Mom during this challenging illness. God called her home. She is not suffering anymore. She was loved by all who knew her and will surely be missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the 5th Avenue Chapel, 304 5th Ave., Belmar, NJ from 12:00 to 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm.
