Obituary of Carmela Cobucci

Please share a memory of Carmela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carmela Cobucci (nee Perazzo), 88 years old, entered the presence of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on January 17, 2023, surrounded by loving family and friends in Boca Raton, Florida, following a challenging fight with leukemia. Carmela was born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 27, 1934, to Virgilio and Philomena Perazzo of San Giovanni a Piro, Salerno, Campania, Italy. Carmela attended William Grady Trade School in Brooklyn, New York, where she graduated with high marks. While in school, she married her childhood sweetheart, Christopher Cobucci, in 1954. Once married, Carmela worked as a highly skilled seamstress for a few years while her husband finished university. Christopher and Carmela started their family in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1956 with the birth of their firstborn son, Mark, followed by Peter in 1960. In 1966, Chris and Carmela moved to Demarest, New Jersey, where they lived until 2003. Known as Millie to most, she was a faithful and Godly wife, a loving mother and daughter to her parents, and a grandparent to four and great-grandparent to three (and a half). Millie was a masterful chef, a thoughtful friend, and a talented multi-hyphenate artist who loved being hospitable and of service to many saints of the Lord. She willingly and graciously served others while battling many health challenges that beset her throughout her life. Her service to and for others will be one thing that many people will remember about this remarkable woman. One of her greatest joys was gathering her family for a meal of classic Southern Italian dishes and what her grandchildren called “Nanny Specials.” Carmela was born again at the age of twelve while traveling with her parents from Italy back to America by an Italian missionary who shared the Gospel with her. Along with her husband, she was a faithful attendee of Bethany Bible Chapel in Toms River, New Jersey, and Boca Raton Bible Chapel in southern Florida for twenty-five years. Previously they both attended and were in service to Grace Chapel in Tenafly, New Jersey, for many decades. Our Wife, Mom, and Nanny demonstrated unconditional love to us all and was a shining example of God’s love to all of those she engaged. Special thanks to our loved ones for their faithful prayer support, love, and hands-on assistance with Mom during this challenging illness. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will surely be missed. We take comfort in knowing God called her home in his perfect time, and she is no longer suffering. Carmela is preceded in death by her father, Virgilio and mother Philomena (nee: Lianza), and her brothers Luciano (John) Perazzo and Francesco (Frank) Perazzo; her father-in-law, Anthony Cobucci and mother-in-law Filomena (Rose) (nee: Campiglia). Carmela is survived by her husband of 68 years, Christopher Cobucci; Son, Mark Cobucci (wife Kathy nee Brown); Grandchildren: Philip Cobucci; Stephen Cobucci (wife Giovanna nee Minicozzi) Great Grandchildren: John Mark, Carmella Rose, Philip Michael Cobucci. Son, Peter Cobucci (wife Gail nee Boyhont); Grandchildren: Amanda (nee Cobucci) Vander Wiel (husband Jonathan) Great Grandson to be born in January 2023; Angela (nee Cobucci) Rosie (husband Drew). Visitation will occur on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Bethany Bible Chapel, 2341 Church Road, Toms River, NJ, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30 am. Internment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ, at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bethany Bible Chapel, 2341 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753. In the memo section, please write “In Memory of Carmela Cobucci.” All donations will be dedicated to helping women and children in need.
