Carol J. Lightbody, 87, of Toms River passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Carol was born in New Rochelle, NY and raised by her late parents Patsy and Teresa Muto. She moved to Toms River in 1955 where her and her husband purchased their first and only home where they raised their 5 children. Carol worked at the coffee shop at Community Medical Center for many years. She was an active member of the Women’s Auxiliary Club at the East Dover Fire Department.

Carol was best known for her passion for cooking and baking for her family. She was always found in the kitchen, singing one of her many songs we will all never forget and continue to sing along in her memory. She was an avid soap opera fan; she never missed an afternoon watching Days of Our Lives in between dusting her tables. If she was not baking or watching her shows, she was almost always doing her puzzles or playing bingo on her computer. Although she was a force to be reckoned with, grandma was always there when we needed her and we will all miss her dearly.

She is predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Lightbody, Sr.; sons, Robert J. Lightbody, Jr. and Matthew W. Lightbody, Sr., and grandsons, David and Robert J. Lightbody, III.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Cindy Weyandt and her husband Charlie, Lisa Fortuna and her husband Jim, and Tracey Santomauro; grandchildren, Cynthia, Sherri, Tommy (Gabby), Shane (Theresa), Amy (Scott), Jessica (DJ), Daniel, Kerri (CJ), Joey (Mike), Frankie (Rebecca), and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and grandmas caregiver, Dalila, who has been nothing short of amazing in the care that she has given her over the last 2 years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4 - 7 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Interment will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Road, Toms River.
