Marylou Massaro, 91 of Toms River, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Marylou was born in Newark and grew up in Irvington, where she was a 1948 graduate of Irvington High School. She also lived in Belleville and Bloomfield, before moving to Toms River with her daughter, 10 years ago. Marylou worked as a Controller for Good Guys Department Store in Bloomfield for several years before retiring.
Marylou had many interests. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing word search puzzles, and she loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed many summers in Belmar and loved the beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Massaro, and her parents, William Greco and Florence Goldberg.
Marylou is survived by her children, Steven Ferrara and his wife Arlene, and Toni Ann Massaro; grandchildren, Danielle Manganello, Tom Manganello, Steven Ferrara, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, and Stefanie Ferrara; great-grandchildren, Tommy and Joey Manganello, and Peter and Angelina Ferrara.
Marylou is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 23 Cottage Place, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
