Obituary of Phyllis J. Szeker

Phyllis J. Szeker, 78, of Toms River passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2023, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born and raised in Trenton, NJ and graduated from Trenton High. Phyllis met the love of her life on a cruise in 1967, they went on to marry and raise their family together. They enjoyed vacationing together, going on several cruises, and exploring the islands throughout the years. Phyllis was a great bowler who was a member of the Day League for Playdrome here in Toms River. She worked as a Secretary for Prudential and Broad Data for several years before beginning to work as a Lunch Aide in the Toms River Public School System. Phyllis retired to spend more time with her family and to care for her husband. Phyllis loved the beach, the outdoors, and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going out dancing with her friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Szeker, Jr., and parents, Peter and Helen Roignant. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Pamela Bonaccolto and her husband Michael, and Paul J. Szeker, III; granddaughters, Adrianna and Aubree; brother, Ken Roignant; niece, Julie Flynn; nephews, David and Brett Szeker and Matthew Flynn, and several cousins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Interment will follow.
