Obituary of James Richard Bechtle, Sr.

James R. Bechtle, 83 of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 16, 2023. James was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ. He moved to Bricktown where he raised his family and started B & J Craftsmen. He was an elder and very active at Bethany Bible Chapel, Toms River. Jim worked in construction until retirement and moved with his wife to Holiday City, Silverton. He is pre-deceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol and two sisters, Kathryn Mead and Eunice Kaplan. Jim is survived by three sons, James Bechtle, Jr., and his wife Yvonne, Daniel Bechtle and his wife Kathleen, Mark Bechtle and his wife Jennifer; his brother Samuel Bechtle and his wife Lois of Tennessee; and his sister Edith Yerike of NJ. Seven grandchildren, Ashley Bechtle, Bradley Bechtle and his wife Laura, Joshua Bechtle, Zachary Bechtle and his wife Kate, Hunter Bechtle, Kyle Bechtle and his fiancée Serena Kohr, Alex Bechtle, and great grandson Alphonse. Visitation will be held at Bethany Bible Chapel, 2341 Church Road, Toms River, on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am with a service starting at 10:30. Cemetery service will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Old Freehold Road and Route 166, In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory to Pine Bush Bible Camp, P.O. Box 764, New Providence, NJ 07974, would be greatly appreciated.
