James J. Bien, Sr., 81 of Manchester Township, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2023.
Jim was born in East Orange, NJ and graduated from Irvington Technical with a degree in sheet metal welding, and also received his Black Seal license. Jim served in the US Navy aboard the ISS CVA-62 for four years and worked the majority of his life for NJ Transit. Jim devoted his extra time at Manchester Fire Company #1 and achieved a life member status.
Jim leaves behind in sorrow, his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia; one daughter, Regina (Samuel) Potter of Florida; two sons, James (Lori) of Tenn, and Joseph (Lori) of Toms River; six grandchildren, Kevin, Christina, Jade, Ryan, Abby and Justin; a couple kids Jim loved as his own, his nephew and nieces.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday at St. John’s R.C. Church, 619 Chestnut St., Lakehurst. Burial will be held 11:00am Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
