Carole Matthews (Avallone), 81, of Lanoka Harbor passed away Friday, November 17, 2023. Carole was born in Newark, NJ, to George and Helen Matthews. She was a lifelong resident of NJ, raised in Maplewood, a graduate of Columbia High School. She moved to Toms River in 1978 where she worked for Community Medical Center for 38 years before retiring in 2016. She was a selfless and devoted mother and grandmother to her two children and seven grandchildren. Upon retirement, Carole spent her time with her good friends and cousins, and devoted herself to her grandchildren, attending their sporting events and activities, and as a volunteer in the Gift Shop at Community Medical Center.

She is survived by her two children, Nanci Conte and husband Mark of Colleyville, Texas, Peter Avallone and his wife Jennifer, of Forked River NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brianna Donley and her husband Brian, Ryan Conte, Kayla Avallone and her fiance Ryan Gallagher, Megan Conte, Tyler Avallone, Kevin Conte and Jack Avallone, and her brother, Eugene Matthews of Mt. Laurel.

Carole was passionate about her family and friends, the love she felt for her grandchildren was immeasurable, she loved living at the Jersey Shore. She will be dearly missed by all, but she will live on in the many hearts she touched.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 12 - 2 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
