Obituary of Dave Shimp

Dave J. Shimp, 53 of Toms River, NJ, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Dave was born at Offutt Air Force Base Nebraska, to John and Mimi Shimp. As a child of an Airforce officer, he moved around a lot before settling in New Jersey. Dave worked as a Network Engineer, although his favorite job in life was being a father. His pride and joy were his three children, DJ Shimp and his wife Kelsey Turczmanovicz, Emily Shimp and her boyfriend Ryan Duffy, and Evan Shimp. He was very excited to be promoted to grandfather to his first granddaughter due in June 2024. Dave was an amazing husband and best friend to his wife, Penny. Dave was an avid NJ Devils fan, poker player, and video game enthusiast. He gave the best hugs, was so kind, and very funny. He will be incredibly missed by everyone who loved him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 2 - 4 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
