Julio E. Vazquez, a respected Army Vietnam Veteran and member of the Brick, NJ community, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, after a battle with several illnesses at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Puerto Rico, Julio proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before settling in New Jersey, where he started a family. He joined the Newark police department as a Police Officer and later worked for Verizon until he retired.
Julio is survived by his devoted wife, Ana Vazquez. His legacy continues through his children; Anthony Vazquez and Liza Vazquez, and his stepson, Donato Rivera. He was a cherished grandfather to Sasha, Yasmeen, and Dean Vazquez and a proud great-grandfather to Sebastian and Julian Palmer and August Schon. He is also survived by four siblings. Julio is predeceased by his grandson, Anthony Palmer, his parents and five siblings.
Julio's family expresses their deep gratitude for the support and condolences received during this time. They find comfort in knowing that Julio's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Julio E. Vazquez will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
His family invites those who knew Julio to celebrate his life and honor his memory. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 5 - 9 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Interment to follow.
