Sally Jennifer Griffin, 72, of Toms River, NJ passed away on July 17th at home after a lengthy illness. Sally was born on May 14, 1952, in Morristown, NJ, the daughter of Robert Pearson and Mary Leonie Drake.

Sally graduated from Ocean County College and Georgian Court College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During her working years, she was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant.

Sally loved to travel, visiting Ireland, Scotland, England, Norway and Egypt. She also made frequent trips to San Diego CA, and Morgantown WV, to spend time with her boys and their families.

Her passions were sports and grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader for her sons’ sports activities as they grew up, and probably even more intense about her grandchildren’s baseball, softball, soccer, and water polo participation. When she couldn’t attend grandchildren’s games in person, she watched on social media game streaming.

Sally kept up her pace of traveling to be with her children and grandchildren even as she struggled with her illness. She continued to cheer from the sidelines at as many events as she could attend. Sally was blessed that within the last month of her life she spent a wonderful week enjoying the fun of both her sons, their wives, and all her grandchildren having a wonderful family time together in San Diego.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Daniel Ash, and sister Donna Ace (Ash).

Sally is survived by Thomas, her husband of 52 years; sons, Stephen (Andrea) and Christopher (Ashley); brother Stephen Ash (Connie); and her most beloved grandchildren Ryland, Audrey, Mitchell, Olivia, Ella, and Owen.

A friend and family memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 2 - 4 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave, Toms River NJ. Her family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory in lieu of flowers.
