William Shaw, 89 of Yonah Mountain, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 01, 2014 which was his 89th birthday and also All Saints Day. He was with his beloved daughters, Christine Shaw Mitchell and Wendy Ann Micari and his family. William was born in Hell's Kitchen, a corner of Manhattan to British parents. He was very proud of his dual citizenship, 'British by law of blood, American by law of soil.' He served in the US Army during World War II. He earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his heroic actions on the French-German border in December of 1944. After the war William earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked in that capacity for Bell Labs for many years until his retirement. He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers. William was a man of many interests and accomplishments; a contributing technical editor for 'Law and Order' an international law enforcement magazine; advanced amateur ham radio operator; and a lifelong marksman. He was certified by the NRA as a rifle, pistol and police firearms instructor and a staunch advocate of gun safety. William was most proud of becoming a published author with his novel "Prelude to Extinction". William was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Mary Mahady Shaw in 1978, his second wife, Mary Florence Wilson Shaw in 1988, and a daughter Diane Shaw Larsen in 1981.
William is survived by his daughter, Christine Shaw-Mitchell of Toms River, his daughter and son in law Wendy Ann and Michael Micari of Franklin Square, NY; his granddaughter Holly Mitchell and her sons Jordan and Devon Mitchell; his grandson William Mitchell along with his wife Sophia and their children Ryan and Mia Mitchell.
