Obituary of Newill Neel Colleton

Newill Neel Colleton, 84 of Jackson, NJ, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014. Born in Yemassee, South Carolina, Neel grew up in New York City, joining the US Army in 1949. After serving during the Korean War, he returned to New York in 1951 where he worked as a Machinist for the Astoria Products Co., of Flushing, NY for 45 years before retiring. He moved with his family to Jackson in 1971. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working on cars. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Hattie "Pat" Colleton in 2002 and a daughter Mary E. Samuels in 2002, and a sister, Elizabeth Jones of South Carolina. Neel is survived by four daughters, Peggy Colleton of Lakewood, Neeldar Colleton of Jackson, Minister Rwanda Gross of Asbury Park and Denise Smith-Byrd of Jackson; sons, Willie Jackson of Sayerville, Danny Peace of Lakewood; thirteen grandchildren, Shraye, Kyshia, Michaela, Saconia, Anthony, James, Marlon, Marcus, Quannie, Carlton, Omar, Dion, Stephanie; sister Martha Freeman of FL; and a host of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Wednesday at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. A funeral service will be offered at 10:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home followed by burial at the BG William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ, at 12:30 pm.
