Obituary of Alicemarie Voorhees

Alicemarie Voorhees, (nee: Thees) 64, of Venice, FL, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015. Alicemarie was born October 7, 1950 in Jersey City, NJ to Helen (McDermott) and Matthew Jerome Thees, the second of four children, Alicemarie grew up in Jersey City, Port Monmouth and Toms River, NJ. Alicemarie graduated from St. Joseph High School class of 1968. She studied dance at Lillian Dean's Studio where she discovered her passion for dance. In 1978, while raising her three girls, she founded Alice's Dancin' Corner in Forked River. Alicemarie grew ADC into one of the more prominent dance studios in Ocean County. After growing her studio for 20 years she retired leaving her daughter Tracey to continue her legacy. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family, many friends and students. Her spirit and life long memories will live on for many years to come at Alice's Dancin' Corner. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her husband Robert Voorhees. She is survived by her husband, Victor Raymond Weiss; her three brothers, Gerald Thees, Robert Thees and Thomas Thees and their spouses; her three daughters, Tricia Dechert, Tiffany Grow, and Tracey Corrao; 5 grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Zachary Dechert, Nicolette Corrao, and Michael Trezza; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, on Friday, January 23, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A memorial Mass will be offered at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River at 10:00am on Saturday, January 24.
