Ira W. Lowe, 88 formerly of Toms River passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Port Charlotte , Florida .
Ira worked as a longshoreman for the International Longshoreman Association in New York City for 42 years and retiring in 1984. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. Ira was a devoted Yankee fan and enjoyed watching the games with his grandchildren. Born in Burke , Texas , he lived in Toms River before moving to Punta Gorda , FL in 2007. He was predeceased by his wife Grace Clyons Lowe in April of 2004 and a son Robert J. Lowe in 2008.
Surviving are his son Gary and his wife Heddy with whom he lived, and 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren whom he loved.
Visitation will be held at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , Toms River on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 9:30 to 11:30 pm. followed by burial at 12:30 pm at the Brig. General William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery , Arneytown.
