Obituary of Charles J. Mayer

Charles J. Mayer, 79 of Lakewood , passed away Saturday, June 18, 2010 , at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River . Charles was a Mosquito Control Commissioner for Ocean County . He attended the First United Methodist Church of Island Heights. He was a member of the Garden State Boat Modelers, and a former Vice-President of the Battle Ship NJ Historical Museum Society. He was also a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 18 F&AM of Toms River . Charles was born in Kearny , NJ and lived most of his life in Toms River and Island Heights , moving to Harrogate in Lakewood in 2006. He was predeceased by his brother David Mayer and his sister Jean Mayer. Charles is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Winship Mayer; two sons, Burt Mayer of Toms River and Harry Mayer of Medford , NJ ; and two cherished granddaughters, Christina and Kimberly.
