Elaine Hines was a most extraordinary woman. She was my mentor when I was a new nurse, and a friend if ever there was one. She had in her a compassion for others, a kindness rarely seen today and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others that I have not seen before or since meeting her. She was calm, collected and always a professional. She always had a smile and a truly caring word to say to everyone and I am deeply saddened that the world has lost such a remarkable humanitarian.
She embodied every good quality you hope to see in a person and in a nurse, and certainly was the kind of woman you wanted to emulate in so many ways. She worked tirelessly and selflessly to bring comfort to strangers as well as to friends.
I am blessed to have worked beside her, learned so much from her and had my life touched by her, and I will miss her, always.
Rest in peace, Elaine, you have certainly earned it.
