Ray Spangler, age 85, of Whiting went home to be with the LORD on Saturday, January 16th. He was predeceased by his wife Flora in 2007 and daughter Sharon in 1984. He is survived by his children; Rev. Al Spangler and his wife Elaine, Deborah Ford and her husband John, Matthew Spangler and his partner Amber. He had six grandchildren; Hannah Burton, Cheryl Diaz, Austen Spangler, Melissa Rivera, Owen Spangler and Sarah Heckman along with 11 great grandkids; Brianna, Bethany, Brittany, Taliah, Christian, Jordyn, Madison, Jayden, Cameron, Mason and Isaiah. Born in Lakewood, Ray graduated Freehold High, served in the US Air Force, lived and worked in Toms River for NJ Bell Telephone for 36 years before retiring to Whiting in 1996. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and the Whiting Bible Church. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Keswick Colony of Mercy, 601 Rt. 530 in Whiting on Wednesday January 20th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park.
