Obituary of James J. Rooney

James J. Rooney, 75 of Toms River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at his home. James was employed as a machine operator with the Crown Cork & Seal Co., in North Bergen where he worked for 32 years, retiring in 1994. He was a communicant of St. Justin's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph's Council 4969. Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Toms River 20 years ago. James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mae Wetzel Rooney; daughter Lorelei Totino and her husband Jerry; two grandchildren, Marie Ventrone and Christopher Totino; sister Eileen Parsons; brother Robert Rooney; sister in law Lorraine Macchia and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Monday at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Tuesday at St. Justin's Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River.
