Obituary of Edward Thomas Strawder

Edward Thomas Strawder, Jr., 65 of Toms River, passed away peacefully Friday, February 17, 2017, surrounded by his family. Ed was an HVAC Technician and worked for the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst at the Navy Lakehurst Base for 27 years before retiring in 2007. He was a proud veteran of the US Army. Ed was a life member and past president of the East Dover First Aid Squad having served as a volunteer for nearly 35 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he grew up in North Bergen and spent most of his life in Toms River and Island Heights. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen Marshall Strawder; two sons Edward T. Strawder III and his wife Jaclyn, and Matthew Scott Strawder; two brothers, Henry Robert Strawder and his wife Amy, Philip Strawder; sister Sharon Kapulskey and her husband David; his cherished granddaughter, Adeline Strawder; and niece Sabrina and nephew Henry. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hooper Ave., Toms River.
