Joseph V. Starace, 81 of Toms River passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017. Joseph worked for East Rutherford Public Works in the Sanitation Department. After retiring he enjoyed working as a bartender at Riggers & Captain Hooks in Seaside Heights. Born in Jersey City, he grew up in Rutherford. After graduating High School, he joined the US Marine Corp.
After marrying his wife Jeanne, Joseph resided in East Rutherford where he raised his family. He became Councilman, he Managed the Little League Baseball Team UOP and was very active. Joseph loved his home in Toms River and enjoyed his retirement down South Jersey. Joseph was also known as "Joey Star"
He was predeceased by his son, Gregg Starace in 2005, his beloved wife Jeanne in 2009, a sister Terry Binns and a brother Gerard Starace.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Starace-Complitano and husband Donald and Christine Krauer-Brignola and husband Jerry of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Jayden and husband KC McReynolds, Giovanna and husband John Finamore, and John Renke; two precious great grandchildren, Myla Rose Finamore and Karson 'CJ' McReynolds; two loving sisters Ester Skelly, and Lorraine Vitale and husband Joe; dear sister in law Mary Starace and dear nephew Billy Schanel and wife Cathy.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, June 17 at St. Joseph's Church, 120 Hoboken Road, East Rutherford, NJ 07073. Repass to follow at American Legion Post 69, 412 Third St, Carlstadt, 07072
