Obituary of Wayne J. Duffy

Wayne J. Duffy, 58 of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Community Medical Center. Born in Perth Amboy, Wayne grew up in Bayville and attended Central Regional High School in Berkeley Twp. He moved to Toms River over 30 years ago. He was employed by the Painters Union, Local #694. Wayne joined the East Dover Fire Co. in 1994 as an Associate member and became a Fire Police Member in 2004 where he remained active until his untimely death. Wayne was always at the Fire House helping to clean up, maintain the building and more importantly, helping to maintain the 'spirits' of the members after all of the events. Wayne was a truly devoted fan of the New York Mets and Pittsburg Steelers Football Team. He was predeceased by his parents William and Diane Duffy, sister, Margie Marcotte and step brother Steven Savacoll. Wayne will be sorely missed by his immediate family and the Fire Service Family of the East Dover Volunteer Fire Co. #4. Wayne is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joanne Lightbody-Duffy; two daughters, Janelle Duffy, Jacqueline Duffy; son Patrick Duffy and his wife Ashley; two grandchildren, Giovanni Hirneisen and Peyton Mencor; his brother William Duffy; two sisters, Diane Lieter and Allison Duffy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River on Friday from 5 to 9 pm, with a Fire Fighter Service will be held at 8:00pm
